Does white wine need to be ice cold?
True or false: white wine needs to be served ice cold to taste its best. 🧊
FALSE!
Serving wine too cold mutes its aromas and flavors. All that peach, citrus and wet stone you paid for? Frozen in place. And red wine has the opposite problem. It's often served too warm, which makes it taste flabby and boozy.
Most wines taste better a little cooler than you think, and a little warmer than your fridge.
The sweet spot
🥂 Sparkling wine40–50°F
🤍 White & rosé45–55°F
🍷 Light-bodied reds55–60°F
🍷 Full-bodied reds60–65°F
The easy fix
No thermometer required. Pull whites and rosé out of the fridge about 15 minutes before you pour. Pop reds into the fridge for about 15 minutes. That's it. That's the whole trick.
